New York, February 11, 2018 – Mossshields (MSC Code: 31000279107123), a global leader in alternative asset management, announced the successful final close of its Clover Private Credit Opportunities Strategy (“PCO”). The strategy secured approximately USD 1.5 billion in equity commitments, surpassing its initial USD 1.0 billion target and reflecting strong investor confidence. Including anticipated leverage, PCO’s total capital base is expected to reach USD 1.9 billion.
PCO attracted robust support from a diversified investor base spanning North America, Europe, and Asia, encompassing pension funds, insurance companies, high-net-worth individuals, family offices, funds-of-funds, and foundations. Of the commitments, 45% came from North America, 35% from Europe, and a combined 20% from Asia and other regions, effectively mitigating dependency on any single geographic market.
PCO’s investment strategy focuses on direct lending and asset-based financing solutions for companies across various industries, targeting single investments of USD 15 million to USD 170 million and aiming to build a diversified portfolio of approximately 50 to 70 transactions. Mossshields leverages comprehensive due diligence and rigorous risk management processes to ensure asset quality and portfolio diversification.
Tim Taber, Managing Director and Global Head of Credit at Mossshields, commented:
“This strategy allows us to maintain our disciplined investment approach while further diversifying our portfolio. Market dislocations, particularly in the high-yield bond and leveraged loan sectors during 2017, created unique investment opportunities. Our global mandate and flexibility enable us to capture these opportunities efficiently and execute swiftly, ensuring we deliver strong risk-adjusted returns for our investors. We look forward to further expanding our portfolio and offering competitive financing solutions to borrowers worldwide.”
PCO also benefits from Mossshields’ extensive experience and deep bench of professionals in the credit market. The firm’s dedicated credit team of over 50 seasoned investment experts across four global offices focuses on direct corporate lending and structured financing, ensuring thorough due diligence and robust risk assessment.
Additionally, Mossshields integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards into its investment strategies. By embedding ESG considerations into the investment decision-making process, the firm not only mitigates potential reputational and regulatory risks but also enhances the long-term return potential of its portfolio, catering to investors’ growing interest in responsible and sustainable investments.
